Research Scientist

Intralytix is currently seeking an experienced Research Scientist to work at our laboratories. The successful candidate will participate in various research projects focused on the development of bacteriophage-based products. This is a hands-on bench-based position and requires proficiency in microbiology and molecular biology techniques. The salary and position level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Research Scientist:

  • Plays a role in specific phage research project(s)
  • Designs and conducts experiments
  • Processes, analyzes, and summarizes results and data
  • Assists with preparation of reports and manuscripts
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Assists with regulatory paperwork and submissions
  • Participates in meetings with the scientific team
  • Assists in the general laboratory tasks, such as production of monophages, maintenance of bacterial stocks, and laboratory equipment operation and upkeep

The successful candidate will be a team player, who is willing to step into various research and development roles as needed. The best fit will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently, be technically proficient and accurate, effectively communicate in both laboratory notebooks and written reports, and possess an attention to detail. Flexibility and self-motivation are both key attributes.

Skills / Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of a BS degree in Life Sciences
  • A minimum of four years of related experience
  • Basic background in MICROBIOLOGY
  • Demonstrable experience in microbiology lab techniques
  • Ability to work with bio-hazardous materials (Biosafety Level 2)
  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate records and to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Computer experience and knowledge of basic software, such as Word, Excel, statistical software, Adobe
  • Willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills

Preferred:

  • Masters preferred, but not required
  • Experience with isolating and characterizing bacteriophages
  • Experience with anaerobes and/or microaerophiles
  • Knowledge of molecular techniques, such as PFGE, RFLP, DNA isolation, etc.
  • Experience using a laboratory information management system or similar system
