About Us

Pioneering the Phage Revolution

Intralytix is using its core bacteriophage technology to develop novel natural products for use in food processing, environmental clean-up, sanitation, consumer products, and problems of antibiotic resistance in human therapy.

Food Safety Leadership

Pioneered the world’s first phage-based FDA clearance for food safety (ListShield™) in 2006. Secured extensive FDA & USDA regulatory approvals for EcoShield™, SalmoFresh™, and CampyShield™ across red meats, raw grains, produce, and pet foods.

Human Clinical Trials

Leading the development of targeted, clinical-stage human therapeutics. Secured FDA IND clearances to launch Phase 1/2a trials evaluating VRELysin™ (reducing gut VRE) and ShigActive™ (managing Shigella) in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and Mount Sinai.

NIH & USDA

Awarded competitive multimillion-dollar research grants and contracts from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), NIAID, and the USDA. Funding drives advanced pathogen research, including efforts targeting critical antimicrobial-resistant ESKAPE pathogens.

Industry 4.0 Manufacturing

Driving innovation in biotech automation via AI and ML-driven manufacturing pipelines, pioneering scale-independent platforms for high-titer clinical phage preparations.

Global Strategic Alliances

Partnering to expand phage applications globally. Key alliances in the (nutraceutical/VMS space), animal health (antibiotic alternatives in animal feed), and pharmaceutical spaces (Reproductive Medicine and Women's Health research).

Issued Global Patents

Backed by robust scientific protection. Issued dozens of foundational patents by the USPTO and European Patent Office covering novel bacteriophages, formulations, and applications targeting MRSA, Shigella, and other critical pathogens.

The Humble Phage

Nature's most ubiquitous entity. Bad bacteria's natural, uncompromising enemy. We harness their precision for a safer world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that naturally infect and kill bacteria. They are the most abundant biological entities on Earth and have co-evolved with bacteria for billions of years. Unlike antibiotics, phages are highly specific — each type targets only certain bacterial strains while leaving beneficial bacteria and human cells completely unharmed.

Yes. Phages are naturally present in our environment and our bodies. They cannot infect human cells — only bacteria. Our food safety products have GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status from the FDA, and our therapeutic programs undergo rigorous clinical testing. Phages have been safely used in medicine for over 100 years.

Unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics that kill many types of bacteria (including beneficial ones), phages are precision tools that target only specific harmful bacteria. This preserves your microbiome, reduces side effects, and helps combat antibiotic resistance. Phages also naturally evolve, making bacterial resistance less likely to develop.

Phages have diverse applications: food safety (eliminating pathogens like Listeria and Salmonella), agriculture (protecting crops), human therapeutics (treating antibiotic-resistant infections), cosmetics (skin microbiome), and environmental remediation (cleaning contaminated sites).

Regulatory pathways vary by application. Our food safety products have achieved FDA GRAS status. Therapeutic phages are regulated as biological drugs and undergo clinical trials. We work closely with regulatory agencies worldwide to ensure our products meet the highest standards.
