On October 31, 2014, Health Canada approved the use of ListShield™ as a processing aid for ready-to-eat meat and poultry in Canada, in all jurisdictions recognized by Health Canada for the purposes of the iLONO policy. The Agency issued an Interim Letter of No Objection (iLONO) for the use of ListShield™ as an antimicrobial treatment for control of Listeria monocytogenes strains on ready-to-eat meat and poultry.

ListShield™ is an antimicrobial preparation for controlling the foodborne bacterial pathogen Listeria monocytogenes. It has been developed and is manufactured by Intralytix, Inc., for treating foods that are at high risk for Listeria monocytogenes contamination. In the United States, ListShield™ complies with FDA food additive regulations, for direct application to meat and poultry that meet the ready-to-eat definition (21 CFR § 172.785). ListShield™ is an all-natural product. It is Star K-certified Kosher and IFANCA-certified Halal product. It is also OMRI-listed (approved for organic use in the USA).
